2015 Leaders Announced

Central District has announced its 2015 on-field leaders:

The Dogs will be led by Co-Captains in 2015 with Paul Thomas and Trent Goodrem sharing the Central District Football Club Captaincy.

Kyle Jenner will be Vice Captain.

2009 Jack Oatey Medallist (Best on Ground in SANFL Grand Final) Goodrem has been elevated from Vice-Captain to Co-Captain, while Thomas and Jenner remain in their 2014 posts as Skipper and Vice respectively.

Thomas' leadership has already been well lauded with 4 SANFL Premierships as Captain, a string of individual awards and also the Captaincy of the SA State Team in recent years. The fact he has red, white and blue blood in his veins, as well as his ongoing ability to set extremely high standards in and around the Club and on the training track means he is a natural choice as a Leader of the Dogs.

Goodrem, one of only 3 players (along with Thomas and Jenner) who remain from the Club's 2010 Premiership side has grown as a leader over the past few years in his role as Joint Vice Captain. Goodrem also plays an ambassadorial role for the Club and its Charity Partner Novita Children's Services and has grown in stature as an on-field leader often being Roy Laird's "Mr Fix It", playing a variety of different roles when required. In recent years Goodrem and Jenner have both filled in for Thomas as Captain at various times when required.
Goodrem is a 3 time Premiership Player (08,09,10).

Jenner, widely regarded in and around the Club as a very strong leader has showed his leadership qualities many times on-field over the last few seasons - none more so than through his set shot goal on the final siren in Round 16 last season to defeat a then top of the table Port Adelaide.  Jenner's return from injury part way through last year, coupled with the improvement in many young players helped spark a late season winning streak which saw the Dogs win seven of their last nine games in 2015.

Both Goodrem and Jenner, along with Thomas are oustanding young Men who set an example both on and off the field.

With a raft of many younger and emerging leaders at the Club playing alongside these officially recognised Captains it will certainly be an exciting ride for Centrals supporters who over the next few years will get to see the rise of the "next generation" at Elizabeth.

Goodrem, showing the type of desperation Roy Laird loves. Spoiling Norwood's Josh Donohue in Round 2 last year. The Dogs won this match by 42 points.

Strength! Taking a strong grab!

Evergreen! Skipper Paul Thomas in the same match last season. Thomas is still near the front of the pack at training in 2015.
