Club mourns the passing of Les Stevens

The Central District Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Club Life Member Les Stevens. Les would be well known to all Bulldog supporters and he will be missed by all.
Les resigned from the Club Board of Directors in February this year due to ill health, but he continued to be seen at all matches, club functions and activities.
He had made an enormous contribution to our club as a supporter, sponsor and an administrator.
He had been a sponsor since 1991 and his credentials as an administrator of the Club are impressive:-
Club Director 1995 – 2005, 2009 - 2012
President / Chairman 1999 – 2005, 2011 - 2012
SANFL Director 2001 – 2005, 2011 - 2012
Les had been a quiet achiever, and during his reign as administrator, was involved in 9 grand final appearances, 7 flags and was President/Chairman in 5 of those Premierships, including our inaugural success in 2000.
His reign as President/Chairman (apart from premiership success) has seen many major happenings including:-
The club taking positive risks to achieve success, a $2.2 million expansion of the Licensed Club facilities and other upgrades, the installation of lights at Playford Alive Oval for night football and was pivotal in uniting the club as a whole.
We are indebted to Les for his forsight and positive leadership.
He will be sadly missed, and the Club wishes Val and the family sincere condolances for their loss.
