DOGS SPECIAL YEAR

By ZAC MILBANK |Twitter @zacmilbank
Central District will celebrate its 50th season in the SANFL league competition by donning a special limited edition guernsey on Saturday.
Set to clash with Woodville-West Torrens at Playford Alive Oval from 2.10pm, the Bulldogs will wear a jumper featuring the names of all 495 players to represent the club since its league inception in 1964.
The guernsey also acknowledges the club’s three logos in the top left-hand corner.
The club chose the Round Eight match to honour its league beginning as it is clashing with the Eagles, its great rival throughout the past 15 years.
Central also played against West Torrens in its first league match while the Dogs were joined by Woodville in making the step up from the SANFL’s reserves half a century ago.
The club’s home match luncheon will feature nine players from the 1960s including former captain Lyle Skinner, inaugural best-and-fairest Colin Stutley and Indigenous great Soney Morey.
Morey, who also won the club’s 1970 best-and-fairest while chalking up 213 games, will toss the coin before the bounce.
Former Central captains Roger Girdham and Rene Van Dommelle will also be at Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon.
An additional 100 replica guernseys will be available for purchase ($75) during the game from the merchandise caravan at Playford Alive Oval.
