O'Hara Multi-talented

POWERADE CHALLENGE – UMP STUMP
By ZAC MILBANK | Twitter @zacmilbank
Central District’s Brayden O’Hara should prepare to be poached into SANFL umpiring ranks after his stunning display in Event Four of the Powerade Challenge.
The consistent Bulldogs midfielder was the only player to score a ‘’perfect ten’’ in the Ump Stump, a challenging exercise in which contestants were asked to bounce the ball like a field umpire.
Using the same training mat as the SANFL umpires, players had their scores tallied across two bounces with only three managing to get the ball to land on the canvas.
As a result, O’Hara was a fitting winner of the event while Sturt’s Levi Krause and West’s Campbell Smith rounded out the top three.
The remaining six players failed to get the ball to bounce straight enough, resulting in each of them only scoring one point for each attempt.
SANFL Umpiring Manager Shane Harris declared O’Hara had a bright future should he choose to join former AFL players such as Jordan Bannister and Mark Fraser in blowing the whistle once their playing days ended.
With just two events to be released, the left-footed O’Hara is now leading the Powerade Challenge by just half a point to Bloods’ surprise packet Campbell Smith.
South forward Peter Rolfe is clearly in third place on 21.5 points while Norwood’s Matt Panos and North’s Nathan Gordon – locked on 20.5 points - are still strong chances to win the overall prize.
