SCHILLERS FIRST MILESTONE GAME

SCHILLERS FIRST MILESTONE GAME
By Peter Argent
In the season opening clash with West Adelaide at City Mazda (Richmond) Oval, on Easter Thursday  evening, 20-year-old small utility Jarrod Schiller achieved the first of many expected milestones with the Central District League team, playing his 50th senior game.
The oldest of two siblings at the Bulldogs, Jarrod and his young brother Travis hail from the Barossa Valley town of Nuriootpa
Jarrod Schiller went through the grades at the Ponderosa the SANFL under 18s system under Brenton Phillips and was the 2011 SANFL League Rising Star Award after an outstanding and consistent winter, which culminated in a Grand Final appearance against Woodville West Torrens.
A tough small utility, Schiller’s strengths include his ability to win the contested ball and also play strong defensive roles.
In 2012 he made his SANFL senior state debut in the match against the WAFL at Gliderol Stadium, Glenelg.
“After just three years in the senior system I wouldn’t have thought I’ve played half as many games as I’ve had,” Schiller said.
“The reason you play the game is to win premierships.
“My strengths are my desire to get the best out of myself.
“My main goal is to play consistent league football with Central District.
“Now I’d love to play at league level alongside Travis at the Bulldogs.”
The Schiller brothers received tremendous support from their parents, mum Sherree and dad, John who are always at the game watching their sons, and were among the crowd again at Richmond in round one.
Both Jarrod and Travis Schiller have enjoyed the spoils of premiership glory at Junior level in Barossa, Light and Gawler competition.
