VALE TWO HISTORY MAKING PLAYERS

STAN VOLBRECHT (seated front left, cirled)

STAN VOLBRECHT
Stan was a legendary player in early days with Kilburn Football Club where he became an All-Australian Amateur Representative.
Stan then moved to Elizabeth and played with Elizabeth Football Club.
Pre-Season 1964, the Club’s first League Coach Ken Eustice had seen him play and asked him to train with Central District.
Stan did just that and played in the Club’s first SANFL League match on the 11th April 1964 versus West Torrens at Thebarton Oval.
He was a rover who played tough but fair and some have likened him to the way he played to the great West Australian Barry Cable. He played 9 games in 1964 at the age of 29.
Stan then decided to move on where he played and coached successfully at local and amateur level.
The Club would pass on our sincere condolences to his wife Shirley and family.
