Under 18's Match Wrap Up

ROUND 13 WRAP UP

It was another agonising defeat for our Under 18's on Friday Night - going down to the West Adelaide Bloods by 4 points.

It was the 3rd time in 4 outings that the young Bulldogs have gone down by less than a kick.

As heart-breaking as close losses are, the young Dogs have had an extremely competitive season. They are currently 5th on the ladder, a game and a half behind North Adelaide who sit in 4th position.

The Dogs were well served by Barossa products Nick Lange and Ryder Eberhard, along with Jake Billing, Beau Shinnick and Salisbury North's Jake Russo.

Central District  1.3-9 5.4-34   8.5-53  9.9-63

ROUND 12 MATCH WRAP UP

Central's Under 18's went down to the Panthers by 31 points at home on Saturday.

A competitive first half saw the Dogs right in the contest, leading by a goal at 1/4 time, and trailing by 9 points at 1/2 time. South piled on 7 goals and 6 behinds in the third term to blow the game open. In the final quarter the Dogs rallied to kick 6 goals of their own (6 straight without a miss), while South's last term produced 1 goal and 5 behinds. In the end the Panthers we're too solid overall.

ROUND 10 MATCH WRAP UP

The U18’s had a gut wrenching  loss against Sturt on Saturday, in a game that was tight all day and to have the game decided by an umpiring decision left the side guttered. There were many positives for the game. This was also the U18’s 6th game away and to come away from this with 3 wins and 3 losses certainly shows the improvement within the squad.

ROUND 9 MATCH WRAP UP -

The U18’s had a come from behind win against Norwood on Saturday, with 6 changes to the line up from the previous week the boys showed their willingness to just keep having a go. It was a struggle for the first 3 quarters and something just clicked into gear in the final quarter.

ROUND 8 MATCH WRAP UP -

The U18’s had a fantastic win under lights after the League game on Saturday, in what was a good old team performance the U18’s  everyone did their bit on the night.

With a 91 point win over West Adelaide they now sit equal fourth on the U18 ladder.

ROUND 7 MATCH WRAP UP -

The Under 18’s had a solid 19 point win over North Adelaide.  It was the sides second win of the year and is reward for effort for the coaching staff and the players. In tricky conditions, the young Under 18 side held strong late in the game when North threatened to come back.

ROUND 6 MATCH WRAP UP

The Under 18’s went down by 9 points to South Adelaide on Saturday. The start cost the side dearly, after quarter time they outscored South Adelaide 11-6 to 8-4, the 31 point head start was too far to peg back.

It was a pretty good effort with the Under 18’s missing Ruckman Simon Furnell, Captain Ryan Falkenberg and onballer Jackson Hately to the State Under 18 Trial and Jez McLennan to the Reserves.

Central District   1-0   6-5   9-6   12-6 (78)

ROUND 5 MATCH WRAP UP -
he U18’s case was one that got away. Dominating the last quarter with a number of shots that hit the post and easy misses saw the U18’s go down by 9 points. The difference in the sides was Norwood’s ability to just stay in the contest a bit longer and make the crucial moments count.

ROUND 4 MATCH WRAP UP -

The Under 18’s were certainly competitive at times on the weekend, skill level under pressure was just not good enough. Even though they went down by 40 point, they certainly did have some good moments throughout the game. The coaching staff will certainly be looking for more consistant and better efforts across the board from players, no better time to do that against Norwood at Coopers Stadium this week.

ROUND 2 MATCH WRAP UP -

The Under 18’s had their first win of the season with a come from behind win against North Adelaide.

The improvement with the Under 18’s, like the Under 16’s, came through their tackling pressure. North Adelaide threatened to run away with the game in the third quarter, but the players belief and willingness to run and carry the ball saw them have 13 shots on goal, compared to 1 from North Adelaide.

Central District   2- 1   6-3    6-5   11-13   (79)

ROUND 1 MATCH WRAP UP -

The Under 18’s suffered the same fate as the Under 16’s.  With a poor start to the game, the Under 18’s defence had to work over time in the game as the skill level and effort allowed too many easy entries into the opposition forward lines.

The last quarter saw a huge turn around with the Under 18’s scoring 6 goals to 1 to lose by 24 points after being 52 points down at ¾ time.

Central District     0-2    3-3    4-4   10-7   (67)
