REST IN PEACE – DES HUDDY Long Time Club Stalwart & Official

It was a sad day last Friday to learn of the passing of our Controller of Equipment and long time Club supporter, Des Huddy.

Des was a strong supporter of the Dogs all of his life, with his father being the Elizabeth Oval curator in the early days.

In 2016, Des became an official as a League and Reserves Equipment Steward which he held until May 2018. Following the passing of Lynton Prosser in the position of Controller of Equipment, Des stepped up into that position.

Prior to Des becoming involved as an official, you would see him at all matches, and he would view training sessions on a weekly basis.

Des knew every player and their respective abilities, and enjoyed a yarn on how the Club was performing, whilst he was always keeping an eye on other competitions for recruits.

In his role as an official, Des was extremely popular with Players, Coaches and other officials. Des was always available to assist in any way to ensure it was a benefit to the Football Club.

All players and officials of all grades wore black armbands on Saturday versus Glenelg as a mark of respect.

A truly great ‘Club Man’ and a ‘Gentleman’, Des Huddy will be sadly missed by all and we offer our deepest sympathies to the family.
