Report from Senior Women’s Coach, Shaun Ribbons.
There is a great quote that says “Humility is only a week away in football” and for our group we certainly learnt that lesson on the weekend against last years runners up in North Adelaide.
I thought our pressure and willingness to compete in the first quarter was pretty good, we came in at that point equal on Forward 50 entries but let North score two easy late goals.
When we had our opportunities to score we made fundamental skill and decision making errors and North hurt us on the turn overs. Saturday was a glimpse of just how fast female football is developing and at the moment we still have plenty to learn as a group. North on the day where simply superior in their ball winning ability and used the ball to great effect.
Kimberly Fry was our best on ground for her efforts in defence keeping last years leading goal kicker to just a handful of disposals and no goals. Georgia Madigan had plenty of the ball and tried to make things happen for us across half forward and Lauren Smith continued to show her toughness in an around the contest.
For us our attention now turn quickly to Glenelg who will be hungry to notch up their first win of the season so we will be working hard on the track to turn last week’s result around.
Thank you to all the supporters who showed up and for those who joined us for presentations in the tavern after the game.
Would love to see you all again at this weeks game V Glenelg @ X Convenience Oval 11:00am
