Round 9 loomed as another great challenge to once again take on the reigning premiers in South Adelaide on the wide expanses of Thebarton oval.
Our girls started the game in emphatic fashion winning multiple inside 50’s but had trouble converting on the scoreboard. This was the theme of the day for our girls, we managed to win the inside 50 count by 17, the contested possession by 14 and out tackled South but unfortunately due to poor kicking “2 goals 8 points and 5 out of bounds on the full” we never seriously threatened South on the scoreboard.
Again we continued to played with great spirit and determination “The Bulldog Way” but in the end couldn’t capitalize on our opportunities. Our midfield completely dominated the contest with Lauren Breguet playing a brilliant game, supported by other midfielders in Laruen Smith who continues to grow and Shelby Smith who epitomizes what we strive to be as a team. Alicia Butler once again gave her all along with Sarah Allan who provides our on ballers with first use and contributes whole heartedly around the ground. In Defense Demi Sonneman showed off her ability with ball in hand selling candy and clunking marks, while Maddy Lane played a solid game on one of South’s most dangerous players. Up forward Katelyn Rosenzweig tool some great contested marks and birthday girl Renai Richardson could have had 3 goals but hit the post. A couple of our girls unfortunately suffered some bad injuries so we wish Caitlen Teague the best with her broken foot and Ella Mickan who injured her knee.
Lets keep RAISING THE BAR and take everything into our last challenge of the season, the undefeated North Adelaide.
