THE CLUB MOURNS THE PASSING OF PETER BEYTHIEN

The Club is deeply saddened with the passing of Club Great, Peter Beythien.

Peter passed away on Friday evening after a very long battle with cancer. His fight with this insidious disease was long and hard, but Peter was stoic throughout.

Throughout this period, Peter lost his wife Janine, also to cancer.

Thien’ as he was affectionately known, was a product of our local metropolitan zone and joined the Club as an Under 17 in 1974.

The big ruckman / forward, progressed to League football, debuting in 1975 at age 17.

His career spanned from 1975 – 1988 which saw him play 285 League games, second only to his good friend Peter Vivian as most number of games played for the Bulldogs.

In 1977, he was the Club’s Best & Fairest Player and was an SANFL and Club Playing Life Member.

Peter was red, white and blue through and through, and he will be sadly missed by many in Doggy Land.

The Club conveys its sincere condolences to the Beythien family.
